Son of Samuel Mather (PM 1884, 1885, 1886, 1887, 1902, 1905) and Malvina M. Ballou.
Married Emma Hammerschmidt October 21, 1896
They had seven children, Margaret S., Lawrence Hammerschmidt, Helen Caroline, Rachel Bertha, Jean A., Doris Allen, and Virginia.
He also served Euclid Lodge as Junior Warden in 1894 and 1895, as Secretary in 1898 and 1899, and as Junior Deacon in 1893.

Roy Allen Mather

Roy Allen Mather, age 71, passed on at his home in Lark Inn Fields, Leetsdale, Pa., at 4 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, 1941, following a brief illness. Friends were received at the Mariatt funeral home, Beaver street, where Christian Science services were conducted by J. W. Rawsthorne of Bellevue on Monday afternoon. Interment was private.
Mr. Mather was born May 27, 1870, in Illinois, a son of Samuel and Melvina Ballou Mather, and was a direct descendant of Increase Mather, an early settler in New England and one of the first presidents of Harvard College. He attended preparatory school in Naperville, Ill., and graduated from the University of Illinois as a civil engineer in 1892.
In 1900, he became associated with the American Bridge company of Ambridge as an engineer and worked on the plans for many of their large construction projects. He resided in the Valley for 41 years, residing for the past 14 years in Lark Inn Fields, where he spent many hours in his garden. He was also interested in astronomy and photography. A member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Sewickley, he also was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Naperville, Ill.
Mr. Mather is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emma Hammersmith Mather; five daughters, Mrs. Margaret Ludlum of Millington, N.J.; Mrs. Rachel Sullivan of Westfield, N.J.; Mrs. Jean Bush of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; Mrs. Doris Rinaker of Lakewood, Ohio, and Miss Virginia Mather, at home; a brother, Fred Mather who is on a government construction project in Omaha, Neb., and six grandchildren.
