From The Secretaries Table
September 2007
Well
here it is September and we are back to our labors. We have lots of activities
in the works and are looking forward to seeing you all in lodge in the near
future.
Many thanks to WBro. Siedelmann who was not taking the summer off. He
was working on the completion of the Grand Master's Award of Excellence Report
that was due on August 11, 2007. Now there are at least two members that know
what a job it is to complete that report and they are WBro. Yingling who did
that job for many years and now WBro. Siedelmann.
In the June 2007 issue of
Temple Topics we listed the July birth dates and third degree anniversaries so
now we will list the same information for August and the year should then be
complete.

ILCHIP Event September 8,
2007
Brethren please take note of the update of the work on this
committee that is part of this column. These members have been working long and
hard and have many non lodge members also working to make this program a
success. Please volunteer your time and turn out to lend your
support.
BLUE LIGHTNING September 22, 2007 Euclid
will be hosting a Blue Lightning starting at 8 A.M. Please contact SR. Warden
John Will to sign up for a part. Also plan on attending and taking part as an
important side liner for these two degrees. Lets impress the candidate by having
more side liners than candidates. Sound Funny??? Not in the least, based some on
previous events that I have attended. It is a very important part so claim your
seat and be proud of your membership in Euclid.
OBITUARY
NOTICE Once again, a Brother Mason, having completed the designs
laid down on life's Trestleboard, and having answered the last summons of the
Grand Warden of Heaven, has now entered the Celestial Lodge above, over which
the Supreme Architect of the Universe presides.
Russell Arthur
Swanson was born on January 8, 1925 at Chicago, Illinois. He was
initated an Entered Apprentice on November 7, 1947; passed to the degree of
Fellowcraft on January 7, 1949; raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason on
February 11, 1949. He received all his degrees in Boulevard Lodge No. 882
located in Blue Island, Illinois. He affiliated with Euclid Lodge No. 65 by
dimit on February 7, 1986. He was called from his labors on earth to Eternal
Refreshment in The Paradise of God on July 27, 2007 at Tuscon, Arizona. Thus
ends the Masonic Record of this just and upright Mason.
So
Brethren, until next month, “There is nothing further on the Secretaries table,
Worhshipful”.
ILCHIP UPDATE FOR
AUGUST
Dear WM, PM's, Wardens and Brethren.
We are
approaching our very own ILCHIP event rapidly and I would like to update you all
on our progress, plans and requests.
We have 300 kits and supplies
already. Likely we have the new style, the paper envelopes. This makes things
easier for everyone as all the documents and DNA all goes in the Paper packet
now. I have two 8X3ft banners that I am going to have up on the fence at the
facility. We are in the process of distributing 1500 flyers to the fourteen 203
District Elementary schools. This is time consuming and costly. The 204 School
District didn't come back to me about distributing through there e-mailing
system, nor the flyer version like 203 District. I am still working on that.
WBro. Bill Dixon has been working with a lady advertising our event
through his church. I have also made contact with my church's youth program.
Anyone else who can help in advertising down this avenue, please give me a
call.
A few of us (Roy Pederson' wife, Jodi, his Mother and my wife) met
one Saturday morning in the downtown Naperville area and started distributing
our flyers for stores to post up in their windows. You may see some around the
village. This past Saturday our very own WM. Barton, handed out flyers in front
of the lodge. I am looking for volunteers for this Saturday.
I have a
neighbor who is distributing flyers around my neighborhood and at the hospital
where she works. She also happens to be on the Home and School Board in our
area. Another friend is helping with distribution at a private school located
near the "Piety Hill" area. I am also confident that many of you have printed
off and distributed these flyers at your local day care centers and circle of
friends where you live. Two "Kindercare" located on Odgen Ave. west of
Naperville North High School have been very receptive towards distributing to
their parents.
Brothers Steve and Tim have been a great help. Tim is
sending out press releases to all the newspapers and magazines he can think of,
plus radio and tv stations in the area. Steve has the Lisle and Naperville
Police departments all excited and Lisle PD is planning to actually help us with
the finger printing. Remember the Naperville Mayor George Pradel will be popping
in as well.
August 11, 2007: RWBro. Floyd, PM Don and I helped at the
Villa Park ILCHIP event. It was a great success. Well done to them!
Interestingly you see the same volunteers at all the events. Many brothers from
other lodges have promised to come and help us, so please, if you see one of
them helping, would you kindly thank them, it really means a lot.
To sum
it all up, we are encouraged with our progress and would like to see as many
kids show up on the 8th of September. We just need a good showing of volunteers
from our lodge and early preparations and lay out of the facility. Traffic
management outside, many smiling and friendly faces and we will have a great
event.
Lastly my thanks go out to all that have volunteered already and
to those that are about to. Steve and Tim are the shift bosses so call them and
volunteer your services.
Fraternally Yours,
Neville B.
