From The East
December
2007
Greetings from the East
Brethren,
We have been off and
running since the November 17 installation! A very special thank you to all of
the family members and friends that attended this fun event. As well as
excellent work completed by the installing officers. I believe this was the
highest attended installation we have seen in a long time and it is a tribute to
the fine quality of officers Euclid have and their love of family.
Our
December 4th stated meeting was an active one which was kicked off by a
wonderful dinner prepared by Euclid Lodge Past Masters. David Oakes organized a
team of highly talented chefs who prepared ham and all the trimmings. It is not
often we break out the fine china and the meal was a great social event and we
all had to take the belts out a notch. Thank you to all the Past Masters who
participated. Some of the highlights of the meeting were the discussions
pertaining to the committees and I am excited about several of the events we
have planned. Our Holiday Party at 12:45 this Saturday (December 15) is the
start of the Masonic Holiday Season and will be capped off by All Lodge members
and family being invited to attend St. John's Day which is an opportunity to
join together as a group and attend a Church service in honor of this day. We
will be doing this on December 30th at 8:30 a.m. at River Glen Church in
Naperville. If we are lucky we can hear Carl Crownhart sing in the choir. What
lovely pipes he has. Speak to Jerry Yingling or Carl for directions to the
Church. [It is on Raymond Drive]. We are planning an optional brunch immediately
following at the Courtyard located just North of Butterfield Road on Rt 59 in
Warrenville. Jerry tells me they have good eats and at a decent price [I believe
$9.50].
In regards to the committees, you do not have to be an officer to
participate. In fact one of our newest brothers, Dainon Setzer has jumped in and
has volunteered to Chair the Lodge Builder and Lodge Clean Up committee. Please
see me if you have interest in assisting in these
activities.
Upcoming Events of Interest will be a
First Degree and Catechism on December 18th at 7:30 p.m.
[Remember dinner is prior at 6:30].
Monday evening practices at Lodge [Open
to all members] starting at 7:00 p.m. and followed at 9:00 p.m. with $1 pints at
the Pub just down the street. Now isn't that incentive!
St. John's
Day - December 30th.
Special note that as our January stated meeting
falls on January 1, 2008 and our bylaws [Thanks Brother Dixon] state that as it
is a Holiday and sure as an Illinois Football victory we will move the date to
the third Tuesday or January 15 at 7:30 p.m.
Lodge Officers
School hosted by Euclid Lodge on February 23 at 8:30 a.m. and will
showcase opening 1-2-3 and receiving the DDGM.
Lets all keep the momentum
going. Ask yourself,
'Are you an active Member
The kind that would be
missed
Or are you just content
That your name is on the
list?'
Regards,
John Will
