FROM THE SECRETARIES TABLE
April 2007
EUCLID DUES: This will be the last comment regarding 2007 and prior years dues. You are probably tired of reading about it but I can assure you that you are not half as tired as I am writing about dues. We all took an obligation stating âI will not cheat, wrong nor defraud a Master Masons' lodgeâ. I feel that not paying your dues constitutes cheating and defrauding. A lodge does not need a list of members that are delinquent in their dues. It is unfair to the member and the lodge. That will not happen at Euclid. If you have not paid your 2006 are behind in your 2007 dues you can expect to receive your notice of suspension for Non-Payment of dues. As has been stated many times over, If payment of dues creates a financial hardship, please let us know and we can assist. But we need to know before we can take any assisting steps. If we do not hear from you, we are left with the assumption that you could care less about your Masonic membership. We do not like to suspend any one but when a brother does not pay his dues, nor does he respond to written communication, nor contact the lodge, there is no practical alternative left for the lodge. Please contact the WM or the Secretary if you need help and don't let yourself get suspended.
Illinois Masonic Academic Bowl Euclid Lodge has contributed $150.00 annually to this program for as long as it has been in existence and that was it. We never knew what team we sponsored and it was just another donation to a Grand Lodge program. This year, the Scholastic Team at Naperville North High School entered the competition and Euclid Lodge sponsored them. We supplied pizza/pop/snacks and cookies for the team on a Friday evening and the team responded by giving a demonstration of a typical match and how the time keeping equipment works. They then asked the members of Euclid in attendance to trade places with them and see how well we could answer the same questions. I would be embarrassed to report how poorly our score turned out. In addition to being impressed at the lightning fast speed in which they responded to the question, they were equally as fast at making the food and beverages disappear.
On Saturday February 17th I attended the Regional Program at Wheaton Warrenville South High School. This was one of 15 Regional Programs that were taking place at the same date and time in which 238 schools throughout the state were participating. The amount of talent and energy displayed by the students and the dedication and concern shown by the team coaches was just overwhelming. I had intended to stay for the first round and them leave but I got so wrapped up in watching the Naperville North High School Team that I stayed all day.
Our team lost the last match in the consolation round but none the less I was extremely proud of their performance. I was extremely impressed with the math, algebra, calculus, geometry and chemistry questions. Some of the students had the correct answer before the moderator was finished reading the question. All this without the use of any type of calculator.
The Illinois Masonic Academic Bowl is truly one of the gems of Masonry in Illinois. If you have never taken the opportunity to attend one of the meets you owe it to yourself. I guarantee that you will be impressed. I am proud that Euclid Lodge finally was able to sponsor a local team and the best part is that the team told me that they will take part in the 2008 program and I cannot wait to attend and cheer them on to victory. I look forward to seeing a few more Masons attending as well.

New Lodge Website Bro. Tim Ory has taken over the management of the website. I believe the official name for that job is Web Master. That would abbreviate to WM and we already have too many guys running around with that designation and I would rather not go there with the web master, so he will be called the manager. It is important that you make it one of your favorites and check it often. The new address is http://www.napervillemasonic.org. This new address should also appear in the column heading, but in case it did not I have shown it here. Bro. Ory has posted the last three issues of Temple Topics on the website and we are interested in a little feed back as to how it is liked or disliked. We are also interested in hearing what additional information you would like to see posted.
So brethren until next month, âThere is nothing on the Secretaries table, Worshipfulâ
